TERMS & CONDITIONS
Before you book, please make sure you are happy with our terms and conditions, as booking a course with us indicates your acceptance.
1.0 DEFINITIONS
1.1 Client – the organisation or individual who accepts an offer from Rise & Summit to provide an event or course
1.2 Participant – an individual who has agreed to participate in an event or course
1.3 Rise & Summit – the provider of the event or course and this includes their staff
1.4 Course – a part-day, full-day or multi-day training session for one or more participants
1.5 Event – a part-day, full-day or multi-day activity for multiple participants
2.0 GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
2.1 Course places must be reserved by sending us a completed booking form and 50% of the course cost as deposit (or 100% if booking within 10 weeks of the start date). The remainder of your course fees must be paid a minimum of 10 weeks before the starting date of the course. If the balance is not paid by this date, we reserve the right to re-sell your course space without refunding your deposit. All prices are exempt from VAT.
2.2 If a site visit is required, the charge for this will be due regardless of whether or not the event goes ahead.
2.3 The final balance of the quoted price is due no later than one month before the event or course.
2.4 If a participant is undergoing any medical treatment or has a physical or medical condition (including being on medication) that may affect their ability to participate on the chosen course or event, this must be brought to the attention of Rise & Summit staff prior to the start of the course or event. Rise & summit staff reserve the right not to allow the participant to proceed with the course or event. If this happens, a refund will not be given.
2.5 Rise & Summit reserve the right to exclude any participant from an activity if their actions are thought to be endangering the safety of themselves or others. If this happens, a refund will not be given.
2.6 Any participant who acts in contravention of the decisions or advice of a Rise & Summit staff member or undertakes independent activities during the course or event will forfeit all professional protection and duty of care from Rise & Summit.
2.7 Personal belongings are the participant’s own responsibility. Rise & Summit do not accept responsibility for any loss of or damage to any personal belongings during Rise & Summit courses.
2.8 Rise & Summit reserve the right to decline a booking or cancel an existing booking.
2.9 Rise & Summit owns all the media and photographs taken on an event unless agreed in advance. Photographs and media will be shared on Rie & Summit social media pages only.
2.10 Rise & Summit will not be held responsible for increased event costs due to Force Majeure. If an event is subject to an increase in price due to Force Majeure, that increase will be passed onto the participant or client.
2.11 Transfers of places between one participant and another is allowed. However, there will be a charge of 10% of the original cost with a minimum of £25 per person as an administration fee.
3.0 CANCELLATION BY RISE & SUMMIT
3.1 Every attempt will be made by Rise & Summit to ensure that its courses run. However, should a cancellation be unavoidable then the participant(s) / client will be notified at the earliest opportunity
3.2 Should Rise & Summit cancel an event then the client shall be entitled to either a refund, minus costs incurred due to payment services used (i.e. Paypal, Woocommerce, Stripe, etc…) of the money paid or a transfer to an alternative date.
3.3 In the case of cancellation of a course due to unforeseen circumstances such as severe weather conditions, terrorist act, police incident etc then a full refund will be paid less actual costs incurred up to the point of cancellation.
4.0 CANCELLATION OF A COURSE BY A CLIENT
4.1 All cancellations must be made in writing (email is acceptable providing an acknowledgment is received).
4.2 If, after booking, you need to change the dates of your course, we will offer you alternative dates, as long as you notify us at least 10 weeks prior to the starting date of the course you have booked. In other circumstances, we may exercise our discretion.
4.2 If you need to cancel with more than 10 weeks notice to the starting date of the course, the balance of your course fee (less admin fee of £25) will be refunded.
4.3 If you cancel with less than 10 weeks notice, we will only refund the balance of the fee (less the admin fee of £25) if we are able to re-sell the course space on your behalf. If we are unable to resell the course, the full course fee shall be charged.
4.4 Should the client wish to reschedule the course, and if Rise & Summit is able to accept the change, then an additional charge will be made which will be discussed and agreed at the time. This will be at least 30% of the total course cost.
5.0 WEATHER
5.1 All courses and guiding days are subject to weather and environmental conditions. Safety is always our highest priority. If conditions are deemed unsafe or unsuitable for the planned venue, we reserve the right to modify the day’s objectives, location, or activities accordingly.
5.2 In the event of poor weather, we may choose an alternative outdoor venue that offers safer conditions, or move the session to an indoor facility where appropriate. Any alternative venue will be selected to best support the learning outcomes of the course while maintaining safety standards.
5.3 Weather and mountain conditions can change rapidly and are inherently unpredictable. While we monitor forecasts closely, last-minute decisions may be necessary. These decisions are made by the instructor or guide on the day and are final.
5.4 Changes to venues, activities, or course structure due to weather or safety considerations do not constitute grounds for a refund, provided that instruction, coaching, and/or guiding continues in a suitable alternative format.
6.0 CANCELLATION DUE TO COVID-19
6.1 Every attempt will be made by Rise & Summit to ensure that courses run. However, should a cancellation be unavoidable, then the client will be notified at the earliest opportunity.
6.2 Should Rise & summit cancel a course due to Covid-19 then the participants or client shall be entitled to transfer onto the same course at a later date or the nearest safe date under Government guidelines.
6.3 The inability of any participants or a disinclination to travel to and participate in a course or event for any reason which includes, but is not limited to, illness (including Covid) is not a valid reason to receive a refund. These issues remain at client’s and participant’s risk and we strongly recommended that insurance is taken out to cover such eventualities.
7.0 PRICE AND PAYMENT
7.1 The price quoted is for the services, dates and times stated. Any changes to these requested by the client or participant may cause an increase in the price to be applied.
8.0 GIFT VOUCHERS
8.1 Vouchers can be redeemed up to one year after date of purchase. After this date the voucher is void.
8.2 Vouchers cannot be refunded.
9.0 INSURANCE
9.1 You should ensure you are fully insured for your course to cover all cancellation, search & rescue and medical emergencies, as well as equipment loss or theft.

What can I say but this experience was amazing. Kevin was an amazing instructor very knowledgeable and professional. Cannot recommend Rise and Summit enough. Absolutely top instructor. Communication before, during and after the course was excellent. Friendly, patient and relaxed style, and really good at pitching the challenge at the right level for the individual. I did the multipitch trad climbing course with Kevin at Avon Gorge and it was a really inspiring experience.
We had a great trad climbing course with Eddy organised by Rise & Summit - two days of intense learning and a lot of fun. The course was well organized and Eddy adopted to our experience and expectations - we learned so much in two days AND climbed two multipitch routes as well.
I booked Kevin for a 3-day private Scottish winter mountaineering course, and I couldn’t have picked a more knowledgeable and professional guide. We learnt at our own pace and tailored the course to our liking. I loved every second of it and I now feel I now have the skills and confidence to take away from this experience to go out the winter mountains on my own in a safe manner.

My partner and I did the cliff camping experience with Rise and Summit and it was truly wonderful! Kevin's climing expertise and friendliness has made the day even more special. The food was really nice and a gluten intolerance was catered for. Overall the experience was really worth it!

Attended a performance course with Kevin and had 2 days of very thoughtful and encouraging coaching that really gave me the push (and a few additional "tricks") I needed to start tackling some harder trad routes (HVS/E1).
We did the SPORT CLIMBING COURSE, with Kevin from Rise and Summit. And we can assure you that the course exceeds our expectations, we not only learned about safety techniques for rock climbing outdoors but also learned some techniques and different ways of dealing with fear while climbing. We felt so lucky to book a course with someone who got a lot of knowledge and passion about climbing and the psychology of climbers.
I recently did the Climbing Psychology Workshop with Rise and Summit, which focuses on fear of falling and how to reprogram your mental habits when lead climbing. I thoroughly recommend the course! It was very informative, tailored on the day to the needs of our small group, and gave me the tools I need to help me keep a clear head when leading harder routes in my projecting grades and to really enjoy doing it. It has really helped me grow as a climber. Our instructor Kevin was extremely professional, personable and is great at his job!
