The 3 day classic winter climbs course is for the intermediate winter climber (Grade II). Who is looking to experience some classic winter climbs on the Scottish hills. We will look at climbing some of the well known winter routes grade III up to V in Scotland, and guide you up them, and give you an unforgettable experience.

Each day of our classic winter climbs course, we would spend time assessing the weather, snow and avalanche conditions, in order to learn about safe route planning and detecting potential avalanche terrain.
Guided winter climbing, usually a grade III or IV. Looking at getting comfortable moving over grade III/IV terrain, taking in the breathtaking views of the Scottish mountains.
Guided winter climbing, usually a grade III or IV. Looking at getting comfortable moving over grade III/IV terrain, looking at efficient movement over more complex terrain.
Guided winter climbing, usually a grade III – V. Depending on which routes we climbed over the previous 2 days, we would be looking to climb another classic winter route, and challenge your winter climbing skills if appropriate.
The course content and location tends to be dictated to us by the weather, so the classic winter climbs course layout can change.

The 3 day classic winter climbs course is for the intermediate winter climber (II). Who is looking to climb some winter classic routes. We’ll develop your skills by sharing our passion for winter climbing as we find our way up the big grade III to IV and maybe a V routes on ice and mixed terrain.

The classic winter climbs course is 3 days long, and is run in the West Highlands, using Fort William as a base. The client-to-instructor ratio does not exceed 2:1, to ensure that we can give you our fullest attention.
All of our courses are tailored to suit your availability and experience, taking into account any individual needs and fitness levels.

This course is suitable only for anyone who is an intermediate winter climber at grade II or above. Or for anyone who has attended one of our winter climbing courses. Bear in mind that winter conditions in the Scottish Highlands can be demanding, and a fair degree of fitness and determination would be beneficial.
